How it works
From the first email to the last page
A lawsuit is long and mostly paper. This is what happens, in order, and what you will hear from us at each step.
- 01
Step 1: You write or call
Tell us what happened and who is on the other side. Send any papers you have been served with, because they carry deadlines.
- 02
Step 2: A lawyer reads before we talk
Not an intake desk. A lawyer reads what you sent, checks for conflicts and decides whether we are the right firm.
- 03
Step 3: We talk it through
A first conversation about what you want, what the documents show and what the realistic outcomes are.
- 04
Step 4: The fee agreement, in writing
How we bill, what a retainer covers and what costs you pay outside our fee. Nothing starts until you have signed it.
- 05
Step 5: We prepare as if it will be tried
Pleadings, documents, witnesses and motions. Settlement talks run alongside, not instead.
- 06
Step 6: You hear from us at every stage
A written update at least every thirty days, and a call whenever something changes the plan.
Before the first call
What to have in front of you
You do not need to organize anything. These are the things that make a first conversation useful.
If you have been served, the court papers and the date on them come first. After that: the contract or lease, the last few emails or letters between you and the other side, and a list of the people who know what happened.
Bring or send
Any papers you were served with
The contract, lease or policy
The last emails or letters between you
A list of people who know what happened

Next step
Start with a lawyer reading what you have
Send the papers or call. We will say whether we can help, and who can if we cannot.
